PEDRO CALUNGSOD : BATANG MARTIR MOVIE REVIEW

2015/01/img_9747.jpg This movie adaptation of the life of the second Filipino saint, Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir is a disappointing movie. I know that this film was done cause of the sainthood of Pedro so many people can know his story. I admit that I really don’t know his story at all. The idea of getting this film close to the story of Calungsod, for me, fail miserably. The Spanish and Visayan accent is poorly executed, that’s the ultimate challenge of era based movies. The Rocco Nacino hair! Its super distracting, it feels like it has a life of its own. Hahaha! Does the childhood flashback really needed for the movie? But the capturing of some of the beautiful nature scenes are amazing especially the beginning part where there is a mass by the sea-shore. For me, it’s not a biopic but a movie for the big screen.
