Island Dreams is one of the pick for the indie category of the MMFF and i should say that the story is simple and very Filipino. It’s a story about a provincial girl who wanted to join a reality singing contest but don’t have enough funds. So she did a tourist guide job for a foreigner. The foreigner went to the Philippines in search for that one spot that his gone love went to. I salute the simplicity of the lines and not so complicated movie. Very Pinoy. It was able to capture also some elements of Filipino tourism, good and bad. What I don’t like in the movie is, the blind mother roasting coffee and putting it in the kettle without any spill, she must be doing the same thing over for many years. Its a nice movie though.
